Track rollers and supporting sprockets are important components of the walking and supporting systems of crawler bulldozers, excavators and related construction machinery, but many people are not very able to distinguish between the two, so I will give you a brief introduction to the support system. The difference between the heavy wheel and the supporting sprocket.

The rollers are used to support the weight of the tractor while rolling on the guide rail (rail link) or track surface of the track. It is also used to limit the track and prevent lateral slippage. The rollers force the track to slip on the ground as the tractor turns. Track rollers are often in muddy water and dust, and are subjected to strong impacts, so it is required to have reliable sealing and wear-resistant rims.

2. Under normal circumstances, the supporting roller and the supporting sprocket are two different products, which have their own technical requirements and structures. Track rollers: heavy bearing, high strength requirements, generally use sliding bearings; and the installation position is close to the ground, often submerged in rock, soil, mud and water, high sealing requirements, tight sealing, strong friction, not easy to rotate, only after loading able to turn.

3. Carrier Roller shaft is constantly rotating through the shaft sleeve, and the wheel body needs to be lubricated with oil, but if the sealing ring is not good, it is easy to cause oil leakage. In this way, the shaft and the shaft sleeve are easy to wear and tear, making the product unusable.

4. Carrier Roller  only bears the sinking weight of the upper track, and has a small load-bearing capacity (much smaller than the load of the load-bearing wheel). Generally, rolling bearings are used and installed above the track frame, away from the ground, so it is not easy to be polluted, and the sealing requirements are low. Relatively loose, low friction, easy to rotate, and small friction with the crawler chain to prevent mutual wear.

5. The reason for the wear of the wheel body of the supporting wheel is that the steel used is unqualified or the hardness of the material is low during heat treatment, and the wear resistance is insufficient. If the support roller is used instead of the supporting sprocket, the wheel will not rotate, and the track chain and the wheel will rub against each other, which is easy to wear prematurely. Therefore, the supporting sprocket cannot be replaced by a load-bearing wheel.

Carrier Roller  is the carrier that bears the overall mechanical weight, so its technical requirements are high, it is easily damaged, and its life is short; while the support roller is to support the chain and play a certain guiding role, and the force it bears is higher than the supporting weight. There are many fewer wheels, so its technical requirements are not as high as the supporting wheels, and it is not easy to be damaged and has a longer life.
